New XK, just post the small sized images from wieck, I will get some bigger pics when i get home. Or go to the site I posted above and post the pics from there, or use <A HREF="http://www.imageshack.us" TARGET="_blank">http://www.imageshack.us</A> to host them. Since when I click them here, the pics don't download for me.

If they change the headlights to ovals, and make the front air dam a bit different (bigger inlets) I'll love it.

The lights dont seem Jaguar to me. I dunno about this.

Something about the way the front of this concept was composed makes me think that the final headlamps won't be this shape. I actually think they'll just use the inner part for the lamps instead of all of that area. (I'd be interested to see what these lamps look like with the black surround being white so that it flows with the other parts of the lights). I also don't think the front will be as flat as it is now.

WOW.... just wow...i didnt think Jaguar could pull this one off.... i mean their last concept wasnt the best... SO im sooo shocked to this is beautiful piece of work. so hopefully it will become the next version of the XK...but then again.... WE ALL KNO FORD MOTOR CORP. They never turn out the way we all wanted it to be.

Looks weird... on one hand the shape is fundamentally right and sleek, on the other hand it's slightly bland and derivative - without Jag details it could be pretty much anything. The nose, especially, when viewed from the profile is pure Lexus SC400. The side flanks are actually pretty nice, but the big "butt" over the rear wheels is too much Aston for me. The doors are also too bland, too much as though this was a sedan-derived 2door, not a coupe in its own rights. The back, again, is too sedan-ish when viewed from the side.<p>The detailing is much better, and I love the side air-scoops - hope they make it into production untouched! That having said the front bumper is way too massive, with an Aston-ish lower air scoop and a timid oval main scoop, too reminescent of an early 90s attempt at the F-type (it was canned). The back is gorgeous, though, much tighter than the current one and also much more modern. Actually, in shape it is not dissimillar to the E-type's. Love the hatch! <p>All in all, it seems the baby Aston will get my vote every time!

The nose will probably change, and that 'big butt' was on the E-type first not an Aston. The oval is a bit small, but I think Jag was holding stuff back on this concept. I think the entire front fascia may be slightly less bland, with a bigger oval and more detailing.

Weird, I was expecting something different. It's a lot more evolutionary than I thought it would be. Although it does have some very nice touches.

if you look at the spy pics of the XJ doing intake testing last year, you can see how the shape on that was very similar to this intake shape and dimension..

Looks like a Jaguar badge engineer version of an Aston Martin.

Did anyone notice that the interior looks a re-surfaced version of the DB9's? just look at the high-reaching center console and the low surface in front of the passenger? Quite a departure for Jaguar with its typical cliff-like facias

so they decide to reskin the AM5? I thought it would make mroe sense for them to make the roadster (put the XK into hiatus) instead of being in the same space as AM.

Inner back lights reminds me of RX-8. Ford did a garage sale on their brands in this car! Maybe someone can found some Volvo on it!

The car raises question marks. Although overall design is elegant and beatiful, some cues look borrowed. The rear would have been much better with the rear lights of the R coupe<br> <IMG SRC="http://www.arpem.com/coches/coches/jaguar/r_coupe/maxi/2003/jaguar_r_coupe_03_b2.jpeg" BORDER="0"> <p>The interior on the other hand is very pleasant. Very modern layout. I do not think it looks like astons interior. There's a break in the center console, while DB9's center console is very swoopy.

That's a pretty tough sell.. I mean current XK is in the 70-86US range.. that's exactly what 911 Carrera range is in with Turbo slightly out at 120k.. since all Ford PAG groups uses essentially the same block it is very hard to find distinction between the AM and the XK, unless they resort to mroe supercharging etc.<p>Honestly I won't see AM getting hurt from this.. rather Jaguar might end up like mecury.<p><TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD><i>Quote, originally posted by <b>JBlair</b> &raquo;</i></TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">This will start at a lower price point than the small aston, and nothing is shared between the two. It happens sometimes on concept cars. They look nice and shiny on the outside, but the working bits are often put together quickly. They should have checked though.

I'm now getting sick and f***ing tired of poeple taking a fleeting glance at this car and saying "Oh, it looks like a rebadged Aston."<p>Have you actually sat and really looked at this beautiful piece of engineering? Have you imagined the technology beneath the taut aluminium skin? The big V8 up front, big 21" wheels on each corner, large 2+2 passenger space, hatchback boot? How many ways are there to do that?<p>This car looks a lot like its predecessor, which is a good thing, yes? That car really looked a lot like the DB7, true? Two words: Ian Callum. The DB7 has passed on its styling genes to it younger siblings, agreed? Because Aston has a narrower product range and brings out similar models more often, they are perceived to be the owners of this 'Aston look' and becasue Jag is part of PAG as well, "Oh, Jag must be rebadging Astons...look what they did with the X-Type, that was just a Mondeo and the S-Type? Cough, Lincoln, cough." <p>Get with the program people! This is a Jaguar. This is very much a Jaguar. This will be very much the next new production Jaguar. And the world will be a more beautiful place for it.

I was watching The Avengers movie on TV last night and noticed a Jaguar -Type in the same blue colour as this concept... and i must say i did see the likeness at the rear with these two cars.... <p>the car is growing on me the more i see it.. but its just the front bumper / spoiler that slightly ruins it for me...<p>Funnily enough, i read somewhere that the concept doesnt have the V8 in there, but only an electric motor so it could be driven onto stage! Hopefully thats an issue that will be sorted for the production version <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/laugh2.gif" BORDER="0">

There is one out there, but not on the ALC microsite.<p>Thought just struck me (Ow!). They're out there testing the real new XK with a combustion engine in it. My guess is the air intakes will be substantially larger for cooling and aerodynamic reasons. <br>While we're on the subject of changes I wouldn't mind seeing slightly more rounded haunches, a la R-D6 and E-Type.<BR><BR>

The Aston db7 was in fact a slightly reworked version of the stillborn jag f-type that ford decided not to build and went on and built the xk instead.. They are both based on the old jag xjs platform. This new jag will not be as closely related to any Aston..

on the topic of rear seats, i recently read a report that stated that the rear seats would be sacrificed in the cabrio, but present in the coupe...<p>Virtually all reports seem to be pointing that this car is at least 90% to the final shape (including rear hatch and side gills).. only differences will be minor cosmetic changes...

Interesting......After seeing those autoweek pictures, I think that everything except for the front fascia and the detailing (like in the lights and in the interior) represent the rear car. It almost looks as if the fascia is an add-on, not necessarily meant to be there but added for visual interest.

Don't worry, it will. The XK has the best buyer loyalty of any prestige sportscar in the States (http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?article_id=1863&section_id=14&page_number=1).<p>And anyway, this one is the starter, the main course is the next S-Type.

No doubt Jaguar took some inspiration from Aston Martin in designing this model, and that's a good thing. I really hope they stay true to this concept when the production model comes around. Jaguar's lineup could definitely use this model, but it'll take more than this to save them...

Can you call it 'inspiration', if they were both designed by the same guy?<p>This <I>will </I> help Jaguar on it's way back to profitability, but the next S-Type is widely acknowledged to be the crucial car to pull them out of the red. According to the editorial in last month's Top Gear magazine, those who have seen it, all say it's the most beautiful car Ian Callum's ever designed.
