I suppose it would succeed if they introduced it. All Astra advantages (2nd place in recent Auto Bild test - comparison of 10 C-class cars) + hybrid engine. Hope price wouldn't be too high.

Add another 2k-3k Euros for hybrid system and you end up with Astra that costs as much as top of the line Vectra

Actually, the Hydrogen cars most people refer to are nothing more than electric cars. They use fuel cells to generate electricity instead of batteries.
There are some companies doing research into on-board reformers, which would convert a fuel into hydrogen, so that would be sorta a hybrid, but still not in the sense of what hybrids are today.
Another option for hydrogen is to actually burn it in an internal combustion engine. That one could be made into a hybrid. However, most research is spent on fuel cells, which are not hybrids.

This one steps on the prius and insight, 0-100 in 8 seconds, vs. Prius's 10 plus, add european handling vs. mush toyota handling. And more economical, diesel + electric better than petrol + electric. It's kind of hard to believe opel is improving on modern diesel's economy and power.
