I'm getting a bit fed up of Chinese car makers copying models from other parts of the world.

There's nothing new in copying. Back in the 1920s there was no internet, but believe me, there were copycats by European manufacturers during all those years.

And then the Japanese. E.g. the first Suzuki prototype from 1937 was "based" on the Austin 7.

Now the Chinese are doing the same. And they don't seem to understand our problems. I know because I talked to them directly.

And consolidation is ripe in China, which together with serious R&D activites will lead to a lot of striking new Chinese models in the next few years.

I wonder if we'll see any official photos of the Buick Invicta within the next two weeks (of this posting) prior to the April 19th show date (or possible press days before that)?

I'm surprised photos haven't leaked for the buick, guess GM is keeping info tight.

It's a far cry from the days from when we had to wait for magazine publications, mostly monthly and some weekly like Autoweek, be it in the (snail) mail or checking waiting out the newsstand shelves, to see anything from mules to official photos. Keeping it tight is much harder nowadays, especially with digital cameras and camcorders abundant and camera-phones everywhere! Also, if things are caught on the sly, they're immediately posted on blogs like this. Also, even if high-res official pics do leak, they're posted rapidly until embargos order them removed. Even when embargo's do end, we still get quicker glimpses on-line versus waiting for the published hard-copy prints.
Keeping it tight is now harder than ever in that regard!

I'm really amazed on how nothing's leaked on the Buick Invicta as of yet, GM's really keeping it tight! We did see two teasers, and that's about it. I suppose now that we'll find out tomorrow (Saturday, 4/18/08) or perhaps at Midnight tonight, how the Invicta will appear, and some spec info.
