Its selling well in the Philippines, more than what Toyota expected... <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emwink.gif" BORDER="0"> <br><TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD><i>Quote &raquo;</i></TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"><br><B>Fortuner waiting list: 10 months</B><br>TOYOTA has struck a mother lode with its new Fortuner sports utility vehicle. <p>As of Wednesday, nationwide customer reservations for the new SUV had already reached 2,400, nearly equal to 10 months of the Philippine allocation, reported an enthusiastic Daniel Isla, Toyota first vice president for marketing. <p>"You would not believe who have been calling us" just to jump the queue, Isla added. But he clammed up before he could blurt out any name, after realizing in time that he was talking to a naughty columnist. <p><B>Because of the overwhelming demand, Toyota Philippines on Wednesday wrote the Singapore regional office to plead for an increase in the allocation of the Thailand-assembled SUV</B>. <p>After Thailand, the Philippines became the second country to introduce the Fortuner, which bears a resemblance to Toyota's high-end Lexus RX 300. <br></TD></TR></TABLE><br><A HREF="http://money.inq7.net/columns/view_columns.php?yyyy=2005&mon=05&dd=27&file=6" TARGET="_blank">http://money.inq7.net/columns/...ile=6</A><p>Nice Fortuner!!!<br><IMG SRC="http://www.4x4.in.th/vision8/photo/12610-23.jpg" BORDER="0">

I wonder when they will launch it in Argentina. I think that the Argentina plant is barely coping with Hi Lux demand, so I wonder how they will cope with Fortuner deman when it is launched....<p>I want to see if the quality is up to Toyota's standards though in the long run

Hopefully someone is going to clean up that last SUV. I'd <b>never</b> use a new vehicle like that! <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/angry.gif" BORDER="0"> <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/eek2.gif" BORDER="0">

I wish they sold it in the Europe, but last I heard they are not planning it due to being too close between Rav4 and Prado...

I here its being considered fa Australia. <p>Personally even though i want it to come... its think it would be weird if there is a V6 available. Y well coz the Hilux here has the 4.0L V6 from the Prado but 4kW lessor. If they also put that in the Fortuner here... then i'd say when the Prado gets a Face-lift... they should boast the kW to at least 190kW to space things out... theres even the Kluger wit 172kW and who knows what kinda V6 the ALL NEW RAV4 will get if it does get one.<p>I think engine power and capacity wise Toyota got some problems (this is for the SUVs)<br>3.3L 172kW<br>4.0L 175-179kW<br>4.7L V8 170kW (atm here) could be 210kW when the facelift hits the shores.<br>

Reminds be too much of the LandCruiser. Front is too curvy and the front looks lower than the LandCruiser. Any specs???? I hope it comes to England.

Is this based on the last gen RX300? The roofline seems a bit like that of the RX300.

It looks like a very nice addition to me. Toyota does well in their SUVs whenever they remember they've got rough-stuff heritage. Luckily they remember quite often.

Its so different, im glad Toyota took the risk of developing it!!! Was there a Fortuner (Fourunner) before this one based on the old Hilux?

It launched in Singapore just last month I believe... And to great success. There were already 300 pre-orders even before people viewed the car. Mostly, because of price because it was waaaay cheaper than the Volvo XC90, which is its nearest competitor here; an SUV which has a three row MPV configuration.

The 4x4 system of the fortuner is the same of the Prado, and the ground clearence seems to me to be bigger in the Fortuner/SW4. So I guess the Fortuner is better in the off road, and being cheaper, I would feel better to trow it in the mud then the Prado...
