The taillights looks very nice and those rims are way better than the U.S. ones. I hope we get those.

YES NEW WHEELS!!!!!!!! the current ones are sooooo ugly! the car looks much sportier now, but still keeps that elegant theme. with those simple retouches, i would actually consider getting one (if i had the money)

Is it just me, or does the japanese one look "slimmer" than the american version? I always thought the american one looked bloated, but the Japanese one looks different, maybe it's just me. I really like it the japanese one!

This has new headlights too right?

Not bad, it needed an update since most of the others that it competes with are getting substantial ones. Of course it's design has fared quite well so a huge update cosmetically isn't really needed.

It looks pretty good, i was hoping theyd restyle the front and rear bumper more then what they did (rear is the same) and also the grille. Ive also not been a fan of the indicators on the bumper idea either and also the shape of the fog lights...
BTW ive alwayz wondered, Which car is SC430 MAIN rival: price, engine capacity, size, etc etc wise? does anyone know

I think the CLK or 6-series are better competitors because all have 4 seats, price range is the same(SL starts near 100,000) but if your talking in terms of the convertible hardtop than the slk might be close in price

The revised exterior styling of the SC includes a new front grille and front bumper, new LED tail lights and a new headlamp design that includes the Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS), which helps illuminate a turn or curve as the driver steers into it.
In addition, a new six-speed sequential shift automatic transmission replaces the SC's five-speed unit for 2006, enhancing overall acceleration and fuel economy. The revised gear ratios also help lower the interior cruising noise levels. New 5-spoke 18-inch wheels with metallic gray finish give the SC 430 a more aggressive, substantial appearance.
The SC also receives four new exterior colors: Mercury Metallic, Matador Red, Chardonnay Pearl and Black Pearl. Adding to the exterior color choices is a new Camel-leather interior trim paired with a new Espresso-wood trim. The 2006 SC 430 increases in price by 2.8 percent or $1,780 over the previous model, with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $65,355.
The Lexus SC 430 was the first retractable hardtop convertible in the premium luxury segment and is able to transform the SC 430 from a coupe into a convertible in less than 25 seconds with the push of a button.
Lexus also introduces two limited production vehicles. The 2006 ES 330 Black Diamond Edition features exclusive Black Diamond paint, black Birdseye maple wood trim, and many other distinctive touches. MSRP for this package is $600 and includes an exclusive Tumi luggage set.
For the third consecutive year, Lexus will offer the SC 430 Pebble Beach Edition. With only 500 vehicles produced for the entire United States, the 2006 Pebble Beach Edition will be a true exclusive. The distinctive features include a striking combination of Tigereye exterior paint and Camel-leather interior as well as elegant Pebble Beach emblems. The 2006 edition will also be offered with a specially commissioned Lexus Tigereye luggage set. MSRP for the 2006
SC 430 Pebble Beach package will be $2,000.

Lexus also announced a price increase on all 2006 ES 330, GX 470, and RX 330 models effective with the new model year. The MSRP for the ES 330 entry-luxury sedan will increase by 0.4 percent, or $125, to $32,300. The GX 470 mid-size luxury utility vehicle will increase by 0.7 percent, or $310, to $46,535. The popular RX 330 luxury SUV will increase by $345, a 1.0 percent change on the RX 330 front-wheel drive and 0.9 percent change on the RX 330 All-Wheel Drive, to $36,370 and $37,770 respectively. The LX 470 full-capability premium luxury utility vehicle increases by 0.4 percent, or $300, to $67,295 effective September 1, 2005. Pricing for the all-new IS 250 and IS 350 luxury sport sedans will be announced closer to its October on-sale date.
The SC has always looked like a fish to me, lots of cars these days look like fish, im sure some of you will agree with me.
No doubt the SL-Klasse is much sleeker & sexier, dont matter if its $30k more, to me they arent even in the same league.
All-in-all the refresh makes a definite improvement to the car. Although they couldve done more to the taillights. And the SC-Series body is still the work of a 4-year-old.

I like these new alloys.... they are very BMW like... they should have this on another update to this car.
It definetly needs to die already... or at least bring out a new one similar to the BMW 6series.... but a new one is said to be coming out in 2010ish i think.
Definetly needs another facelift.... somethin more major for the front and rear. And maybe stick the 4.6L in it.

They'd still need the SC as part of the global lineup.

Otherwise, what would Lexus bring out to compete against premium coupe-cabriolets with retractable roofs??? (esp. the Merc SLK)

I too think they shoud stop producing the current one. But not in 2-3years time... now.

They do need a SLK/Z4 competitor but the SC wasnt really it. I think that is one area that Lexus should do into. They should make it a new vehicle all together which is a 2seater (roadster and coupe) and uses their range of V6 engines and has a V8 as the F version.

I think that maybe Lexus should come back with the SC nameplate (if the time is ever right) and as i've said before and Ndjan mentions, as a 6series competitor.

With these two cars and the LF-A (if it ever happens), that would complete their sport-car range.

I just realised that the thread was back coz it just got a facelift..... besides the new side mirrors, what else has changed.... that looks like it. Srsly why arent they just killing it. They could have put the 4.6L in it at least, or try out the 3.5L....

For all its faults, this car did always have a beautiful interior.

No, it's not eternal...Lexus just keeps building it even in the face of no one buying it. There is a difference.

it's been around for about as long as the current Mercedes SL, just without the much neeeded facelift and engine transplant. They should've facelifted it once the whole L-Finesse styling started to keep it in line iwth the other models.

While basing it on a GS platform would make a whole lotta sense, I hope they don't go the IS route and make a GS coupe/convertible. The IS versions are Fug.

Lexus is not capable of making good looking convertibles. I hope they don't plan on replacing the SC once it's dead.
