Hey everyone! First time posting!!
I read somewhere that Audi will start producing the the facelifted 3 door model in week 17 of this production year (with sales beginning in August) and that both the nose and the taillights are getting a facelift. Can any one confirm this and when will we see the new model (ie press release?) BTW found this site http://www.audi4ever.at/tb/index.php?id=38 . It has lots of images of owner's A3's and other audis also. What is most interesting though is what one owner has done with his 3 door A3... maybe a glimse of the future???....check it out! => http://www.audi4ever.at/tb/aut...ype=2 HINT: look at the front shots!

I love that grille so much! It looks great on the A3, and with the headlights it looks realli agressive!

the front of this A3 just looks too heavy. I've never been a fan of the monster snout, but this iteration, while one of it's best, is just too overpowering for the car. It pulls the car down in the front ..
apart from that, what else is different on this car? maybe I'm being a bit slow, but I can't pick up any other changes

Still not a fan of the big schnoz, but it is the best iteration of it yet. BTW, this is not or will not be a US spec A3, as far as I know. We only get the 5-door.

OMG, that's hillarious. Kinda hard to miss it, dontcha think?
Besides this minor issue of theft, I've got a bad feeling about this car - I don't think it's going to sell here in the US. Just a gut feeling (and a little experience, I guess) but I think the five door hatch and high price are going to keep it WAY in check. Audi will have to offer a lot more to get buyers excited when a stripped A4 is going to be priced within spitting distance. That and all the other more competent, more appealing cars for the same or less money should put the squeeze on this car, I think.

Guys, if you research it more, you'll find that it's an Audi marketing ploy; kind of a role-playing game ("reality gaming"). Well done though, evidently, gathering from how many people it's fooled.
http://www.stolena3.com/archives/001176.html

I actually saw that and I surfed thru most of that site...to me this is really stupid marketing, actually. For the sake of audi, I hope this works for them.
I forward this to some of my friends, everyone had essentially the same feeling as I did.
To me a dumb move - audi doesn't need this to get people into their dealerships

OMG, what a horrible marketing idea from Audi. It's one thing to attract tremendous public attention to a new car (so far so good), but to "trick" the public into thinking it's a stolen car... I don't like that.
Also, why on earth would Park-Place Audi @ Manhattan agree to this?
I can't believe I fell for this silly PR scheme...

BMW did something similar to this without any explanation. All of the clues finally came down to a few people knowing that 'something' was going to happen at a certain place at a certain time. There was some code word I think too, and BMW gave away a Z4 as the prize. I can't say that Audi is going to do the same thing, but all this 'stuff' has to lead to something.
UPDATE: found the story....
http://www.bmwcca.org/Roundel/...shtml

Does Audi honestly think that people sitting around for hours getting immersed in some "reality game" are going to be the ones looking to buy an A3?
Newsflash: people with jobs and lives--like upwardly-mobile twenty-somethings--or computer illiterate sorority girls are going to be the ones driving this car, I guarantee it. The fact that this marketing campaign has gotten absolutely ZERO publicity (in contrast to, say, Audi's own "sum of all parts" contest for the new A4) is because the only friggin' people who KNOW about it are nerdy little kids role-playing as sleuths trying to find the stolen A3. And I don't think THEY are gonna be dropping upwards of $30K for this thing. All of the others are either (a) fooled into thinking the car was actually stolen, or (b) too damn busy to bother with such an elaborate game. Sometimes companies just try too hard.
My rant about sorority girls notwithstanding, I would really not mind having one of these at all. I love the styling and am not at all turned off by the fact that it's a hatchback. Indeed I may even like it more than the A4.

Audis premium compact will now have even more sporting pretensions with a high-power V6 engine, quattro all-wheel drive, and aggressive exterior styling. The 2006 A3 3.2 quattro S-line will be available at a base price of $33,980 ($44,990 in Canada). A destination charge of $720 is not included in the base price.
The heart of the new A3 3.2 quattro S-line is the narrow-angle 3.2L V6 engine producing 250 hp at 6300 rpm and 236 ft.-lbs. of torque from 2800-3200 rpm. A 6-speed Direct-Shift Gearbox transmission is standard, as is Audis legendary quattro all-wheel drive. This drivetrain propels the A3 3.2 quattro S-line from 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds, and through the quarter-mile in 14.4 seconds.
A standard sport suspension and 17-inch Excalibur 5-spoke alloy wheels with 225/45 all-season tires ensures that the A3 3.2 quattro S-line has a dynamic ride with sporty handling. Optional 18-inch 20-spoke alloy wheels with 225/40 performance tires are available for drivers who demand the ultimate in traction.
The exterior styling has been changed to distinguish the A3 3.2 quattro S-line as the sportiest of A3s. The front bumper now features larger air intakes that terminate into a new lip spoiler. The rear bumper has been restyled to feature a sporty and more pronounced lower valence. These features, along with the 17 or 18-inch wheels, gives the A3 3.2 quattro S-line an outwardly aggressive road presence that matches its driving dynamics.
Other standard features on the S-line package include fog lights, roof spoiler, S-line badging, alloy air vents and door inlays, leather clad sport seats with special stitching and a power adjustable drivers seat, 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel with alloy shift paddles, Bose Symphony audio system with an in-dash 6-disc CD changer, illuminated vanity mirrors, and driver and passenger reading lights.
The Audi A3 will be backed by the Audi Advantage, an outstanding combination of warranties and protection that includes:
Four-year/50,000 mile no-charge scheduled maintenance
Four-year/50,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty
12-year limited warranty against corrosion perforation
24-hour Roadside Assistance for four years provided by Road America

WOAH!! I was expecting the S-Line to cost more. Considering that phenomenal drivetrain and the level of standard equipment, I figured a heftier price increase was in order. I am so ready for this thing. When and if I get a new car, this will be the one. I'd be happy with the 2.0T, but wow, that 3.2 is lusty. Anyone have any pics? Is this already for sale in other markets?
All that aside, has anyone heard how well the A3 is selling in the U.S.? I'm sure I could find their sales figures somewhere on this crazy internet, but I was hoping someone would have it on hand. If it's selling strong enough, will Audi NA consider bringing over the 3-door model?

im confused, is this an s3 or is it just like a sportier a3?

Soul Man
11-16-2005, 05:35 PM
its a sportier a3, think of it of like say the boxster lineup. this is the equivalent of the boxster S, better than the regular, more powerful than most everything in its class, but not quite up to the power of what would constitute an S or RS (for audi) an M or AMG, but powerful enough it constitutes a price premium and an ID of being better than the normalcies of the class

so its kind of like bmw's m sport which is a toned down m and mercedes' amg package, which offers like everything from the amg except the engine?
