I don't get it. Why companies try to put Corvette into the same line as Ferrari or Lambo? Corvette will never compete with Ferrari or Lambo....

yeah but when you look at ferrari and corvette which one looks better? Ferrari of course.... Ferrari is ferrari...the name, the looks, the engine. I don't know, I personally like Ferrari much better
To me it's more exotic than Corvette.

Interesting discussion. All I need to know about supercars is called Porsche Carrera GT.
Anyway, this corvette here seems quite a unique car, It looks like it's better than ever. Sweet...

Why would Corvette compete with Ferrari and Lamborghini? Uh, because most of us don't have $250,000 to spend on a car, maybe?! With due respect, Corvettes offer a tremendous amount of performance - some would say supercar performance - for money that a lot of Americans can afford. No, this isn't everyone's cup of tea but if you want to shame an exotic, this is a convenient way.
And as for questions about a Corvette "never" being able to compete with those exotic brands: Ever hear of the C5R? It kicked ass. Major ass. Boy band ass!

The fact is the Corvette can PERFORM at the same level as the Ferrari. So - as performance cars go - they're at the same level (which is what people look at in sporty cars most of the time).
But in terms of quality, design, materials, interior, etc., of course they aren't.

if you want you can always get a celica GTS put a turbo on it and overtake the ferrari.... I agree the new Corvette looks very very nice.. especially the headlights..
But I still think that Exotics are Lambo, Ferrari, Porshe..but not Corvette
seriously just watch a video in a video section where a LEXUS IS beats the hell out of Corvette, and others...so much for a american power cars

A Lexus IS beating the hell out of a Corvette? Okaaay...
Perhaps an IS that has been chipped, charged and slammed within an inch of its useful life might keep up with a Corvette in a straight line. But for actual road racing performance - which tends to require balance, stability, torque and horsepower - in a package that can actually be driven with any level of confidence, nothing can touch a Corvette for the buck.*
* Please note that I am NOT a Vette-head. I think they've got crap interiors, look positively goofy and are all too often driven by guys named Vinny who wear gold chains and sport chest rugs. But for the track-day enthusiast, they absolutely rip it up and serve as a legit alternative to the 360 and 911. I suspect the Z06, however, will crush those two soon.
Okay, well I am staying with my word. Corvette for me is not an exotic at all...
but one more question. Why put a huge engine like 6.0 when you can always put less engine.. Bigger engine doesn't mean that it is fast. Modena has 3.6 engine comparing to this Vette or old Viper (8.0)

Uberwagon

Fair enough.
Why bigger engines: The old saying "there's no substitute for cubic inches" applies here. Two reasons:
1. Torque. Just as important as horsepower in some circles is the accelerative twisting power of torque. Higher torque means you can stomp on the gas while exiting a corner and accelerate out of it faster. Horsepower, in the most general sense, equates to speed. A Corvette might share the same horsepower figures as a 360 (400) but far exceeds it in torque, making it devastating coming out of the corners. However, torque often requires a larger engine (as it is) which can upset balance with higher weight.
2. Economics. To make that 400 horsepower out of a mere 3.6 litre V8 is nothing short of a stunning level of sophistication. Sophistication, as we all know, requires rarified technology, exotic craftsmanship and alien materials such as the blessed "unobtanium." All of which require constant servicing by "Tony" and, above all, fat coin.
So it's really two different engineering philosophies and two different tax brackets at work.
The problem in Europe is the taxation of big engines. In my country for instance, the annual car tax is calculated on displacement, not on performance, fuel consumption or environmental impact. So all those affordable US muscle cars (Vette, Charger, Mustang) are an impossible sale here.

I remember the lingenfelter TT 427 one-off they made for the C5...IIRC, 1100 hp, 0-60 in 1.97 seconds, top speed unknown but got it well over 240 mph, quarte mile in 8.5 seconds, completely street legal and looked pretty much like any other vette...talk about the ultimate sleeper...

so anyways, to sum it all up, I love lingenfelter and I love what they do to the best damn sports car in the world...

This seems like it is produced now to fill the void until the Z06 arrives. The Z06 should have very similar performance with its lighter weight. The Lingenfelter 550hp twin turbo kit sells for $19k - this has got to be at least $40k IMO. The Z06 should only be around $15k more than the base vette. It might just pay to wait - at least you still get the factory warranty with the Z06.

This is what IMO the normal Corvette should look like, with that bonnet insert it looks so much better.

People don't buy ferrari's because they want the ultimate in performance, they buy ferrari's because they want the attention and prestige that goes along with the prancing horse

people buy corvettes because they are smart...they know they can be had for cheap...they depreciate very easily and fast...vettes are some of the most technologically advanced cars on the road, they have a lot of heritage and are great looking at that...they are fast as hell and they handle amazingly...the vette is an awesome car...I guess you could say it is the poor man's ferrari but I'd put the vette in a league all its own...mostly due to the fact that it is a superior car at a fraction of the price of an exotic or pretty much any sports car on the market...I'd say the only thing that comes close to the vette as far as value/performance goes is the skyline, but even that is in a class all its own really...

It will sell pretty well until the Z06 arrives, and at a handsome premium. The Z06 will be lighter, and backed by the factory warranty, as well as cost less, so even with less horsepower in the Z06, it should be on par with the Lingenfelter. Once the Z06 is out, sales will drop on the Lingenlfelter tuning package (hence the "gap filler"). I'm sure Lingenfelter will continue to churn out variants with different levels of horsepower, but I believe they will enjoy the most sales now.

yea, but LPE isn't really like that...first off, the vette isnt a high volume seller, and most of the people who buy them aren't going to modify them...maybe an exhaust and intake or some rims and a chip being the extent of most mods done to the vette...the LPE packages are also a somewhat large chunk of change...people who are already financing a vette probably aren't going to be looking into (assuming LPE does financing) taking out a loan on basically the price of another car just to modify the current one...while the packages are great and everything, buyers I am sure come few and far between...LPE doesnt expect to sell a lot of packages, and chances are the ones they do sell are already installed on a vette before it is purchased...now, of course you can buy parts seperately and piece together your own variation or whatever, and also, LPE just doesnt do the vette...they do all different GM cars, even some dodges too (maybe fords, not positive) but they make packages for GM SUV's, pickups, and the camaro...then again, honestly i dont know the volume of packages they produce but I would assume it is pretty low volume and most of the buyers I would also assume are modifying older generations of their cars now that they have them paid off finally or whatever...people will send their Z06's to LPE too...LPE tunes vettes mostly....the vette is a low volume product and the amount of people who actually tune their vettes is even lower, which means the amount of people who are willing to drop the pretty penny on an LPE package is even lower than that...you know....now that I think of it, running a company that tunes low volume cars with available packageswhich can be the price of cars must be a *****...
