Looks like the Concept 8 that was shown at NY in 2004. http://www.ultimatecarpage.com...=1978
Gorgeous. This is the car I'd buy if I had the money and if it is actually being built.

yes platform that statement is just ignorant. and yes, this thing is practically identical to the concept 8 that was shown at NYIAS last year (which if I recall corrcetly most of you loved).
Here is the link to the Concept 8 thread from the old forum:
http://carspyshots.proboards2....65909

Please explain.
Other than the trim, side vents and wheels, styling is similar to the regular XJs(one of Jaguar's more traditional looking models in the lineup).

Makes me wonder what the XJ facelift (2007?) will produce. The new S-type will be out by then, so maybe it'll take cues from that.

So, you are right about cues from the S-type, but originally from the XK (makes me want to see the Jag ALC concept chopped onto an XJ)
second, are those the same are vents as on the Range Rover? I know they share a lot of parts, but please.....

What parts exactly are the range and the XJ sharing. Last I heard the only parts common to both Jaguar and LR were Power plants, and I think it's only 1 (or maybe 2) at that.

Jags have had side vents since the XK120, they just haven't used em for a while.

Yup. The vents ARE classic. "Mr. Ford" has done a darn good job with jaguar.

This doesn't change the fact that they look like paper towel dispensers...

And your point? Its a great looking car with plent of heritage, power, and luxury. If the best you've got against it is that the vents look like paper towel holders, then you don't really have an argument against this car.

GerjurdKing

I never said I had anything against this car...no need to be so touchy. I just don't like they way those vents look and no matter what 'heritage' the vents may have, they still look like paper towel dispensers...

Ok just got some news about this beauty...
It will be equiped with the most powerfull engine that Jag has. V8, 4.2 kompressor, modified to bring out 400bhp (instead of 390bhp)
Hits 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds and maximum speed of 250 km/h
North America will start selling this baby in August. Sales for other countries are not planned. Probably won't go on sale other than North America..
BEAUTY...

Those are some pretty good numbers for something this size. This is an amazing looking car. Definently a luxury sedan I'd want to drive.

The biggest mistake Jag made with this completely new XJ version was the bumpers. Hyundai can make cars where the bumpers aren't huge, Im sure Ford/Jaguar can. They dated this car from the start. But this is a very nice version.

Santeno

I think the design of the bumpers was intentional. The idea was to maintain a direct link to the original design of the XJ sedan (from the 60's) while breaking up the added visual front end height incurred from current pedestrian safety regulations. The idea is to create a break in the cars lines in order to fool the eye into thinking the the car seems svelter than it really is.

Unfortunately, there seems to be one thing missing that made the Concept Eight so irresistible: the panoramic glass roof...

I don't know about the panoramic glass, but the LEDs looked the red rope light you can buy from Lowes and other hardware stores. Of course even if you did get them and install them, which would be simple, they'd look out of place without the glass their, and I'm not sure how you would do power because a 12V inverter would just look cheap and tacky.

Range Rover's Sport version is a 390 bhp, but full size Range Rover's version of it is supposed to give out 405 bhp.
That said, Who gives a damn about 15 more bhp in a 400 bhp car?
BTW I've never understood why Jaguar uses such long overhangs on those big models... but guess it's ok though...

We finally got our Portfolio edition Super V8 in and I have to say that I am very impressed with the car. I took some pics that I will try and post later today, I have to say this is a very nice car! I do wish that Jaguar had kept a couple of things from the concept, such as the roof etc, but all in all a great car. When one considers the competion at its price point, $115K, this is a pretty good alternative.
Now all I need to do is to find a buyer from among the well heeled CEO's or pro athletes in town.
