Aston Martin did it again. Gorgeous car, and I am sure it will move as great as its looks are. However, I do not think Aston stands a chance of taking Porsche 911 piece of market share. I think Porsche simply outweighs Aston in volumes. Even if this car is only going up against the 911 Turbo, I think the next Turbo will be chasing after F430.

This car wont go up against the 911 Turbo.... the Supercharged version of this Aston (with ~500hp) will go up against the 911 Turbo.

Absolutely STUNNING exterior design, but I can't help feeling that the interior looks like it needs some more buttons and some tastefully applied wood, like on the DB9. It's very plain, albeit extremely well done, but the starter button looks totally lost on the dashboard. Also, the air vents being at differing heights - while sharing the same shape - looks a bit off. And, as one final (small) gripe - I don't like that steering wheel, it's FUGLY.

Looks very good. Not sure about the yellow, but very typical Aston look in grey. I think they won't be able to produce enough to really hurt the 911, but it will be a success undeniably.

That is an absolutely beautiful car, even moreso than the DB9, which itself is a gorgeous machine. Somehow, the smaller proportions of the Vantage really work. On looks alone, this car strikes me as more desireable than any possible competitor, including the 911 or F430. My only concern is its weight; I think I read that it is almost 3500 pounds. That's not unreasonably heavy, but it's still a good 200 or 300 pounds heavier than competitors like the 911 (which is actually bigger than the Vantage, I think). Hopefully the horsepower edge will make up for it. I suspect, though, that Aston is in a bit of a quandary with the rest of its lineup. I'm sure that Aston could easily have made the Vantage the quickest and best-performing Aston, but then they would unseat the Vanquish. (The DB9, I suppose, can be differentiated because it is a somewhat softer, GT car.) It will be interesting to see how much of a boost the supercharged version gets. I would imagine that a 80 hp gain would be easy enough to manage (they could probably come close even without a supercharger if they tried), but that's DB9 horsepower territory. Personally, I hope they give the Vantage all they can; it seems to me like the most desireable of the Astons.

Obviously the power/weight ratio on the GT3 is better than the 3490 pound Vantage.. I'm guessing the Vantage picked up most of its speed through the corners, with its Excellent handling.

Good point well made. You want the weight to be as near to the centre as possible and as low as possible. Something like the McLaren F1 did a very good job of doing this.

V12 Vantage with a V8?

No, it is still a V8 Vantage, but with the front bumper from the V12 Vantage and 10 hp bump.

I know, but I think it's just stupid that V12 Vantage owners won't have their exclusive bumpers etc.

But at least they get to keep their fancy hood with all its numerous vents :)

I totally see your point though. Aston Martin is known for its exclusivity, so I bet this may miff a few V12 Vantage owners. However, they do need to visually separate the V8 from the V8 S, so why not use something that is already in production? Its simple that way, and the car does look elegant, still. Otherwise, Aston would have to spend time and money on either a new bumper or front lip/skirt.
