This should sell well... in the world of "my truck is bigger than yours."

The bed looks so small... IMO, it kinda reminds me of the "small equipment" comments even more...
*goes hding in a corner trying to be ashamed of what he said*

I think I read somewhere that this will have a shorter bed in favor of the larger cab.
This is a truck designed to tow heavy loads and carry lots of stuff in the cab.

Way to go Dodge!! Everyone liked the Ram headlights as they were, but you had to go stick the Dakota look on it. HORRIBLE.

Not bad. It looks pretty good in black, awkward in red. I think the new Dakota-like face is okay, makes the family ties much closer than before. It'll probably sell well. Good job, Dodge.

I still don't get it all that much, is this just basically an extended crew cab? (or quad cab, whatever they call it)...

Here's official picture and information of Dodge Ram Mega Cab:

Dodge hopes to upstage the four-door pickup market with the introduction of the 2006 Ram Mega Cab pickup. The automaker claims the Mega Cab boasts the largest passenger compartment of any pickup.
Mega Cab highlights include:
A 34.5-inch opening for the rear passenger doors, which Dodge says is the widest in the industry.

The pickup segment's first reclining rear seats, which angle back 22 to 37 degrees. Additionally the 60/40 split seats fold forward to create a flat cargo floor.

And, the creation of 7.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat, inside the passenger compartment. The area is capable of holding several small suitcases.
The 2006 Mega Cab pickup sits on a 160.5-inch wheelbase. To create this pickup, engineers re-proportioned the cab and the pickup box by replacing the 8-foot box with a 6-foot, 3-inch box. This provided an additional 20 inches of space in the cab.
"We kind of created space in a different place," said Mike Donoughe, vice president, body-on-frame product team, Chrysler Group.
Dodge says the Mega Cab's passenger compartment is a little over 12 inches longer than the 2005 Ford F-250 Crew Cab pickup's.
The Ram Mega Cab pickup will be available in 1500, 2500 and 3500 series, and depending on series, with either a 325-hp 5.9-liter Cummins Turbo diesel with 610-pounds feet of torque or the 345-hp 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 with 375 pounds feet of torque.
Ram Mega Cab sales begin this fall. The Ram regular and Quad Cab pickups will continue to be offered.
Additionally, all 2006 Ram pickups feature restyled headlamps, grille and front fascia.
The Ram instrument panel has been redesigned and now can accommodate an optional navigation system. Other new options include rear seat DVD player, power sliding rear window, heated front seats, power sun roof and adjustable pedals.
Source: Automotive News

Leave to Dodge to make pickups bigger. They started the whole "bigger is better" deal, I'm sure they'll finish it.

first the Ram (which were renting now; F150s a lemon) had rear doors way too small. Now it looks as if they are to big with that extra metal

Nice try Dodge, but I don't see this being a big hit or anything...

WOW that center section of the dash/console is truly MASSIVE!!! You could fit like four nav screens across on that thing! :D
And dang, I still hate those headlights. You model the Dakota on the Ram... NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!!!

I like the concept of this truck. This will be the ultimate camping, towing a fifth wheel, construction, and even realtor truck! I actually know a realtor that wanted the Ram pickup, but didn't buy because the back seat was too cramped for the clients. Dodge solved that problem! You know - aftermarket shops install a "fouton" type seat that folds into a bed into the stretched F550 pickups. They now have room in the Dodge to install the same thing! The best camping machine!
But... Where is the 6.1 Hemi? I thought this would be a perfect time to introduce the 6.1 to the Ram
2FastDre.

Rural communities and utility companies are probably salivating over this thing as we speak. It can carry a big load and lot's of workers (and their crap), and you can still use it as a family car when you are done working. Doesn't ford have something like this that sells quite well? Sorry man, but While I doubt that it will be as popular as the smaller models, I think that they have a pretty solid business case for this bad boy.

Wow, this reminds me of the Dodge Maxx concept from couple of years ago. the front looks great!!! can't mess with that.

I am troubled by the gap as well. It really takes away from the flow of the other panels. Even though it was designed to be that way, the gap invokes a sense of poor "fit and finish".
Is the top of the bumper painted black to help blend it in under the grill or am I seeing things?

Im so impressed with the facelift. Before I saw the Mega Cab pics a while ago I was afraid Dodge might ruin the Ram but this is a 100% improvement. The grille is perfect and this should boost up Ram sales.
Good job DCX

well, the interior is a huge improvement over the regular ram, in room obviously and in general design.

really? it doesn't look too different to me other than a nice shade of tan as opposed to the black or grey they usually have in their press photos

I like thid alot. If we were to get a new truck in the future, this would be it. I love my truck, but the back seats are too flat. I want one in pine green or black. Now THAT would look nice. They need to make a SRT Mega Cab with a 6.1 That'd be sweet. The interior looks awesome, and the front looks GREAT. Big thumbs up for Dodge.
