Go ManGo!, a high-impact paint name initially used for the 1970 Dodge Charger, returns in an updated metallic orange paint on the all-new 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T.

Following the limited-production run of Dodge Charger Daytona R/T in Go ManGo! will be a Dodge Charger Daytona R/T offered in Top Banana, another high-impact heritage paint name. The Top Banana Dodge Charger Daytona R/T will peel off the line in limited numbers later in 2005.

In addition to the special exterior paint colors, the 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T model will be distinguishable by an exclusive front fascia with a chin spoiler and black honeycomb grille, unique black "Daytona and HEMI decals, signature heritage R/T badging and a black rear decklid spoiler. The Daytona model also will include large, bright, dual-exhaust tips and 18-inch polished wheels with low-gloss, jet-black painted pockets. The powerful HEMI engine will feature a HEMI-orange engine cover.

The interior of the 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T will feature performance front seats with suede inserts and embroidered "Daytona" logos on the front headrests. Body-color accent stitching will appear on the front and rear seats and on the leather-wrapped steering wheel. Matching body-colored center stack bezel, a "Daytona Limited Edition" display on the electronic cluster and a sequentially numbered limited-edition Daytona badge on the instrument panel will complete the unique Dodge Charger Daytona R/T interior.

The Dodge Charger Daytona R/T comes equipped with standard world-class ride and handling features, including Electronic Stability Program (ESP), All-speed Traction Control and Anti-lock Brake System (ABS). The Dodge Charger Daytona R/T model also will feature dual-zone automatic temperature controls, heated power front seats and power-adjustable pedals.

The 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T in Go ManGo! paint will be on display at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show during press days, beginning Feb. 9. Dodge Charger Daytona R/T models in Go ManGo! and Top Banana paint will be featured in the Daytona Speedway Dodge City display, Feb. 1620.

Dodge to Boost 5.7-liter HEMI to 350 Horsepower

Just in time for the Dodge Charger Daytona R/T launch, Chrysler Group engineers have muscled out even more horsepower from the legendary HEMI engine. The 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T will feature a five-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick and a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine that offers an estimated 350 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque -- ten more horses than the previous 5.7-liter HEMI -- for even more power in this modern rear-wheel-drive muscle car.

Chrysler Group engineers developed uniquely tuned intake and exhaust systems to unleash some of the HEMI engine's untapped power for the Dodge Charger Daytona R/T. By using a less restrictive intake system and moving to a straight-through muffler from a three-pass muffler, the newly tuned 5.7-liter HEMI gets a 10-horsepower boost and a throaty, high-performance tone to match.

The HEMI engine's Multi-displacement System (MDS) provides up to 20 percent improved fuel economy, giving Dodge Charger customers the legendary HEMI power they want with fuel economy they will appreciate.

A high-performance suspension package that includes special suspension tuning, 18-inch all-season P235/55 R18 performance tires, performance-tuned 9-land steering gear and Nivomat self-leveling rear shock absorbers will be standard on the Charger Daytona R/T model.

2006 Dodge Charger Production

Production of the 2006 Dodge Charger SE, SXT and R/T models begins this spring at the Brampton Assembly Plant in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, with vehicles available in North American markets early this summer. The Dodge Charger will join the Dodge Magnum and Chrysler 300 vehicles built there.

Limited production of the 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T model in modern Go ManGo! paint will begin early this summer with vehicles available in North American markets soon after. Its alright. I think it's sad how they're "reviving" all the good names on tarted up regualar cars and trucks.

I need a pic! I hope the Daytona treatment looks a hell of a lot better than the one on the Ram. I love the original Daytona and I can't wait to see this one. I guess I was just a little late to the party...

Throw on the upcomming Vortech Supercharger kit (500hp).. and this thing will be pretty bad ass.
Oh, you'd also need to get aftermarket BLACK wheels... to match all the black accents on the car.. then you'll have a truly bad ass car.
Bypass that hood too... buy a 2nd "regular" Charger hood, and paint it flat black.
Modified by Seller Automotive at 2:39 PM 2/7/2005

It's more "LOOK OUT!!!!!!!" than the "LOOK refined." of the base and RT models.
Now, thow a shopping cart wing on and go race it!

I hoped for a coupe...
...But you can't always get what you want. I guess I'm satisfied with what Dodge has done with the car. I think it looks okay. Maybe the aftermarket will offer some interesting options.
Anywho... good work Dodge.

Uhm, am I the only one who thinks these look like chops? Look at the color on the closeup of the yellow one...
Oh, and if they are real, then they are super-duper-uber tacky. I mean seriously people... there are elements to classic muscle car design that should remain in the 60s and 70s. To say nothing of the fact that this is a FAMILY SEDAN.

The Charge itself doesn't really seems as blasphemous to me as to some, but graphics on a four door really is just going too far.

Even though I was partial to the Daytona images we saw earlier this week the car looks even better in person and even better than the stock Charger itself. People everywhere that have dismissed the Charger due to the four-door body need to readjust their thinking. Here is a company actually bringing back the heritage of muscle cars, throwing out limited editions with wild colors and blacked out grills and all they can say is it's not a coupe. Would they rather the company slap the Charger name on a 2-door economy coupe the size of the Cobalt? Nah this is hot. Im not crazy about this. This type of model should only appear on coupes. And why can't they give us a new rim? These are Magnum rims!!

That's a little more like it. A shaker would nice. Loving the orange, very old school especially with the racing stripes. Still too many damn doors. At least they could have made the Daytona with two doors. And a 6.9L Hemi would have been nice (that a 426 for those who would rather not figure it out)

After seeing the pics of the SRT-8 now I know why I never warmed up to this Daytona edition. It needs the monochrome grille! A Go ManGo grille or Top Banana one would just further enhance the overall appeal. And no, this does not have too many doors. Let me ask this: how many of you prefer the 4-door WRX to the 2-door? I prefer the 4-door and sure enough its still in production.

03-28-2005, 05:17 PM
I've got to agree -- 2 doors doesn't work for me anymore. Yeah, they usually look sleeker and the original Charger was the epitome of sleek, but IMHO it's a pain in the ass to carry friends, groceries, etc. And as long as I'm on my pragmatism trip: From a reality/business POV, the coupe market is DEAD. As a public company held to returns, it's just not worth doing now. Sorry.
I'm not digging these graphics and stickers AT ALL. What worked asthetically in the 60's doesn't necessarily work today. To me it screams "look at me!" and "I have no taste!"

03-28-2005, 05:22 PM
I prefer the 4 door WRX but would rather have the 2 door Charger...and yes it has too many doors, two doors too many however the WRX is find the way the are, just my preferences
Personally I wouldn't buy either, none are my tastes anyway...

Why is it called daytona? i thought its gun have daytone gold rims...how cheeap dodge....

03-28-2005, 06:49 PM
The 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona is one of my favourite cars of all time. Most people don't like it but it bears little resemblance to this car. Also, correct me if Im wrong but I believe Top Banana and Go ManGo were high impact colours introduced in 1970 and werent available on the original Daytona Charger. Now if they made a 2006 Superbird....

I really like it, it just needs a monochrome grille. I know they went out of their way to black it out, but for me it just doesnt work. Same goes for the chrome grille on the R/T.
