Some pics of new Caldina facelift. I dont think anything changed much engine wise, 3S-GTE is still there in top model. Exterior is nicely reworked while interior got some new trim.<p>I have to say, this is one of the few wagons I would care to get. I would LOVE to be able to buy GT4 verision of this baby, 260hp would keep me happy.<p><IMG SRC="http://toyota.jp/Showroom/All_toyota_lineup/caldina/exterior/images/ex04_svg.jpg" BORDER="0"><p><IMG SRC="http://toyota.jp/Showroom/All_toyota_lineup/caldina/exterior/images/ex02_svg.jpg" BORDER="0"><p><IMG SRC="http://toyota.jp/Showroom/All_toyota_lineup/caldina/exterior/images/ex03_svg.jpg" BORDER="0"><p><IMG SRC="http://toyota.jp/Showroom/All_toyota_lineup/caldina/interior/images/int01_svg.jpg" BORDER="0"><p><IMG SRC="http://toyota.jp/Showroom/All_toyota_lineup/caldina/interior/images/int02_svg.jpg" BORDER="0"><p><IMG SRC="http://toyota.jp/Showroom/All_toyota_lineup/caldina/safety/images/mainphoto.jpg" BORDER="0"><p><IMG SRC="http://toyota.jp/Showroom/All_toyota_lineup/caldina/mechanism/images/sub_01photo.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>OLD:<p><IMG SRC="http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0RQD*AhAVBOZqGvp1XHdOaojUcYoTcvd*FYATiw8p03fJGrULE MUZ4wOjafTR1eJ9hUKgjWnDYMXke6iF8V4XLjN8G3K*ewTAo4O 87O5WzKw/caldina2.jpg" BORDER="0"><p><IMG SRC="http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0RQDZAhIVfOZqGvp1XHdOajfA4ueXZ6v!lNQ6NKbTmqTaibyQ2 Xg21pv!wNviHWcl6dfDW4o3qY0qhaiB7JFpsiKeKk4yvnjp!ZS MMP*MUAE/caldina4.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>

Nice job Toyota - this is just about the best looking car in their whole lineup and it fails to bring it outside the JDM market. It just blows away the whole reputation of Toyota making boring 'bread-and-butter' cars. <p><I>Now, if only this styling can filter down to normal car like the Camry..</I>

Why is Toyota face-lifting their models by adding those ugly plastic pieces in the grille. First Euro-Corolla and now this. It looks like it was riced <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/pukeface.gif" BORDER="0"> <p>maybe its the cheapest way to do it.

This looks very nice and sharp. The interior reminds me of Mazda, cool and retro.

What platform is this car based on? Corolla or Avensis? This car would would make a good addition to the Scion line-up. Does anyone know more about engine hp, and does it have AWD? Bring it on over Toyota.

It is Avensis-like "platform" (or maybe we should say that Avensis uses its platform) although in this version it shares many things with mighty Celica GT-Four.<p>Other engines are 1.8 132hp and 2.0 Direct Injection (158hp). 2.0 is available with both 4WD and 2WD.

That car is awsome! It looks kinda like a Lexus RX330 from the back. I wonder if it could ever fit in the Lexus lineup as a crossover alternative to the RX330? <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/2cool.gif" BORDER="0"> <p>Or maybe even a 2nd gen Matrix <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/biggrin.gif" BORDER="0">

I don't like the restyled front. It looks too much like the US Honda Odyssey - pleasantly bland and definitely not sporty.<p><IMG SRC="http://automobiles.honda.com/images/banners/2005/odyssey/exterior_gallery/large11.jpg" BORDER="0">

Toyota did a good job with this so why can't this replace the current Matrix. Dam Toyota keeping all the good cars for them selves.

It is built for JDM market, so its pricing would be too high in USA, well off 25k in its GT-Four edition.<p>I do agree it looks awesome... Sure grille could be done differently, but then again it is an JDM car... Give me this in GT-Four edition and 6 speed manual and I would love it.

I imagine there are a lot of cars Toyota would love to introduce into more markets, however to go into international markets they have to go through emissions and safety testing which takes a while <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/bangin.gif" BORDER="0"> , dunno weva that front end would meet the new european pedestrian safety laws for example, and modifying and paying for the tests can take a lot of money eating into their profits, and since they're the only top 3 manufacturer in profit, ill go with their current plans, lets hope the new yaris and this facelift spells the end of dull toyotas tho! <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/banana.gif" BORDER="0"> this car looks so good... anybody know what its like to drive? <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/driver.gif" BORDER="0">

This car is just made with OLD celica GT4 components to combat subaru Legacy touring and MItsubishi Legnum VR4. And of the 3, the toyota is the ugliest and slowest, the facelift didn't improve much either. And this facelift was last years too.<BR><BR>

And I don't know why you guys are comparing Matrix (corolla suv) to Caldina (celica wagon). Let's hope for the avensis or Chaser or Mark II instead. The Camry sucks so much that it went off the market in UK, it's not even funny. 100 camrys sold per month.

As to Caldina looking bad - not to me. And matrix is not Corolla suv, but more like small corolla mpv, same as old-gen Corolla Verso...
