Booooring. Almost every new car i've seen for the american market in the last months looks dated and uninteresting style-wise. If i was american i would insanely envy the european market.

It would probably overlap into lexus territory (both in pricing and appointments). I doubt toyota would do that.

in most liklihood, this will be the architecture of the next IS ( which will separate identity from the Altezza or the Altezza name will die )

In all honesty, this is probably the best looking vehicle from Toyota in a long time...atleast in my opinion.

I dont like the looks, it is an JDM car, I probably should not like it anyway, especially the back, but I would not call it boring. Interior is just awesome and very interesting style wise, and I find front very interesting and out of common Toyota style...
It is pretty nice package, 4wd, 260hp from 3.0L direct injection, double vvti engine, 6 speed automatic... I wonder how much hp will TRD supercharger make on this baby (we will see in upcoming Tokyo show in a week)...
If this is boring, I guess you can only get off with cars like C6...

This car is more of JDM and EDM design. Doesn't uses American styling cues but would make a good car for anyone who loves Toyota group vehicles.

If you ask me, the rear is okay but what I really don't like is the "X" badge in the front. For me, it could've been better if it used the standard Toyota logo.
Aside from that, the interior is very nice and one this is one of the best car interiors I've seen from Toyota. Good job to that.

Well, if you don't like the car, at least you can watch the TV commercial.
Speaking of which, has anyone else seen the TVCM of this car or at least the article on the TVCM?????
Blackraven, many JDM Toyotas have their own "model" badges on their grills. If they make an export version, it will most likely have a "Toyota" badge on its grill.

I guess your right there.

Well, if there gonna make an export version, they won't use this as the new Lexus IS and the possibility of this being the next gen IS is very low (close to 0%) IMO. So it most certainly won't be a new IS.

Since the new generation IS will also be launched in Japan, it is unlikely for such a thing to occur.

Plus, I heard from one of those club lexus forumers that the if this car were even the IS, it should have a "bulge" (dunno if it is in the hood) or at least that's what I heard.

looks like a fat is300 with bmw's decklid style snuck in and a touch of mazda tailights. How can toy/lexus have such phenominal build quality and package it in cars that are so utterly and completely boring and forgetfull?

Forgetful?
Just as what spywolf has said, it can have bad looks but it isn't boring at all.

This car has one of Toyota's best interiors ever.

Geez, well the good thing is, not everyone here agrees with you.
