Is it just me, or is this 2nd generation overlooked all too often?

I agree, it doesn't seem to get mentioned often.

Woww, this coupe version does look really mad with blue but it does look similar to 1st gen viper because of viper's styling. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsad.gif" BORDER="0">

Doesn't look right for some reason. It looks short. I would rater have the 2006 ZO6.

I actually think this Viper looks better then the old viper, and much better than the convertible that is out already. These are actually old images that have been out since at least September.<br>Here are a couple more that i had laying around....<p><IMG SRC="http://www.muscularmustangs.com/images/compviper3.jpg" BORDER="0"><p><IMG SRC="http://www.muscularmustangs.com/images/compviper4.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>Mike<br>MuscularMustangs.com<br><A HREF="http://www.muscularmustangs.com" TARGET="_blank">http://www.muscularmustangs.com</A><p>

This is what i read....<br>"Dodge recently surprised members of the Viper Club of America by rolling out a "concept" Viper Coupe at the groups annual meet in Texas. The blue-with-white-stripes hardtop featured the same 500-hp Viper drivetrain, but this one came with different body panels and a fixed roof, and a one-piece hatch glass and decklid. The car should be in production late next year as an 06 model"<br>So basically it's a concept car although it looks alot like what i'd say the coupe will look like when the actual car is unveiled.

The suspension looks a little too high. Offsets the entire car, almost enough to make it look like a crossover :(

It seems corvette has stolen the fire out of the viper, People care little about this car but can't wait for the ZO6. If the coupes power is increased to the same 620hp/ 580lbft of torque as the new Bristol fighter, then they can give corvette the finger and probably scare SLR

Anyone else notice the tire-body gap is maddingly huge on all of Dodge's new cars? Charger, SRT-8 Magnum... but the Chrysler's aren't. The 300C SRT-8's gaps are so small you couldn't fit processed cheese through them. Same with the Crossfire.<p>Weird.

Not sure why they didn't use the back end of the Viper race coupe (<A HREF="http://members.aol.com/racingwolf999/newvip01.jpg" TARGET="_blank">http://members.aol.com/racingwolf999/newvip01.jpg</A>). That car was perfect in my opinion. The new back end looks about the same as the last model.

Any word on if they will keep the side exhaust pipes?

Do my eyes deceive me or is this thing riding as high as an SUV? Maybe it's those wheels (which, I may add, were pretty nice looking in person... I worried at first). The rear spoiler lip is a little exaggerated, but I suppose it serves a purpose.

I cant believe I never saw this Viper coupe from Geneva(I also heard it was at NY too)<br>I like it in red and it has new rims<br> <IMG SRC="http://www.salon-auto.ch/multimedia/images/img_traitees/2005/en_images/1109834259_dsc_0021_small.jpg" BORDER="0"> <br> <IMG SRC="http://www.salon-auto.ch/multimedia/images/img_traitees/2005/en_images/1109834277_dsc_0022_small.jpg" BORDER="0"> <br> <IMG SRC="http://www.salon-auto.ch/multimedia/images/img_traitees/2005/en_images/1109834295_dsc_0028_small.jpg" BORDER="0"> <br>source: salon-auto<p> <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/driver.gif" BORDER="0"> <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/ylsuper.gif" BORDER="0"> <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/beerchug.gif" BORDER="0"> <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/banana.gif" BORDER="0">

Wow that is nice. The blue looks better on it though I think. Either way it's a stunner that makes the convertible look absolutely tasteless.

I think the red looks so much better. And the rims too. I still think it needs to be lowered a tad...

I agree. While it looks good it would've looked better with the Competition Coupe's rear.

The second-generation Viper IS iverlooked, I think because the styling was "kinder and gentler" and more like a generic re-do of the original. The coupe is a lot meaner looking than the converetible. The original Viper was vicious, the 2nd gen is almost secretary-car tame looking.

Something is wrong with the Viper Coupe... its not on Dodge.com's list of upcoming SRT vehicles.<p>I have a feeling the "concept viper coupe" is gonna get a big change.. Big enough atleast that Dodge didnt want to put "this car" on the Future SRT Vehicles web page.<p>Hopefully they'll change the front bumper.. and make the engine more powerful.

I love the front, but hate the back of this car. I also agree that it should be lower, but not as much as your photoshop. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emwink.gif" BORDER="0">

Is this the only car where the roadster has come out before the coupe?

The same goes for Porsche's Boxster, Jaguar's E-Type, Morgan Aero 8 (even if the coupe is a prototype), Panoz Esperante (cuope prototypes have been caught testing), the original Lotus Elan (I'm not positive about this one though), MG-A (which was a shooting break like the M-Coupe, not an actual coupe), Etc.<p>There are others I'm sure.

It looks ok but it needs more horse power and a more agressive frontend.<br>IMO the viper was superior to the corvette, and the 2 were never on the same level but now I think the Z06 has this beat...<p>One has to wonder why dodge puts 418hp, in a grand cherokee SRT 425 in the charger but only increase the HP in the Viper by 50 and torque by 10...

Seeing how popular the Hemi is, I would imagine a Hemi V10 displacing 7 or 8 liters. Because the 6.1 makes 425 hp, the bigger engine, with more tuning, should be easily able to make over 550-600 hp with only 7 liters of displacement.

It's much easier and cheaper to graft a lightweight roof on a convertible body than to chop and retrofit a hard-top body to make a convertible. If I recall correctly the corvette and the viper are such types of cars.<BR><BR>

Too bad McClaren didn't think this way when creating the SLR. Hadn't they originally planned on making a convertable but later realized it was impossible because of how they had designed the roof to have such structural importance (Sorry for changing topic)
