Guys, I need a huge favor and thought to ask your help. As such I figured just this once, I would try doing this as a contest and then going back to the typical automotive fare. I'd really appreciate it if you could participate. Feel free to play with the suggestions below as you see fit. Good luck
- Santeno -
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As some of you know I'm an avid watch collector as well as certified car nut. I'm working on a custom watch project and have some ideas I would like to render into a viable drawing, but I complete lack of photoshopping skills is preventing me from doing it, hence the reason for this out of the ordinary contest.
Here is what needs rendering:
Use this as the base picture:

Replace the entire image inside the dial and the ring on the bezel (the ring of numbers on the outside that you can turn).
The base dial should be the dial used in this picture (Ignore the red bezel ring) only with the white "crosshairs" extended further out so that they almost reach the edge of the dial (and a little bit closer to the center):

To that dial image add the following hour and minute hands:

and the following Second hand:

The resulting dial with hands should look something like this (ignore the red bezel and the text written on the dial):

On the top left hand quadrant of the dial I would like the Initials SCWF written in some sort of thicker font and in white (or silver)
On the lower right hand quadrant insert either of the following images in white (or silver):

or this one (please focus on the main wave and feel free to make the whole thing white or silver):

Now for that bezel ring. Remove it and replace it with either of these:

and

The final look of the dial and bezel should be something generally approaching this, only with cleaner lines, based on the original picture above, and with the waves in better proportion to the dial (read bigger):

Feel free to do and enter as many mock-ups with as many combinations of the elements above as you wish. The winner will be chosen monday evening. The best one wins and gets to chose the next contest.
Thanks again for your help and have fun with the contest.
Santeno

You guys do know that photoshop design is not only for cars? Most design is actually outside the automotive field, furniture, electronics, consumer products, packaging, etc. Since design schools will ask you for more than just car sketches. So participating will allow you to see how flexible you are in your design skills. so get to it.

I wish I can do PS. Not to be rude or anything but I bet you a hundred dollars that if some other member, not moderator, created this thread with the same reasoning, it would've been locked in a second. I think a request thread at the PS thread would've been fine. Just my two cents. It's just if Santeno, Administrator or not, can do it, I feel that all members should have the privilege to do the same (but having an important reason like Santeno's) and just occasionally.

Many people have requested a chop in both the Photoshop area and The Lounge...but technically, this thread is a CONTEST.

Wow that looks amazing. Thanks Mucus.
As for the others, I know it is off-topic, and don't worry, if it wasn't important I would not have asked that it be done. I tried asking but got no responses, so I thought it best to try and submitted as a contest, since that is where the majority of you seem to gravitate to. The funny thing is that even here, no one but mucus responded. Don't worry about changing the way Moorhouse runs things here. This is a one time thing.
I would still love to see a few more entries if you guys feel so inclined. Thanks.
Santeno

Thanks for letting me know. I understand. I had no objection to this. Just, I've seen many threads being locked made by other users because it didn't do anything with cars and to see Ascariss encouraging people to do rather than the opposite way felt a little bit unfair to those who tried.

Nice, I like what you've done with the SCWF font and how you inserted the wave (not inside a circle). Can we expand on this theme?

M. Check your e-mail and PM. I just sent you the feedback you asked about. Thanks again to everyone for your help. All of your ideas have been amazing and have really contributed to the final design. Together with input for different people, I have been able to take small bits of your different renderings and have them incorporated into a whole, which i think will work. We are almost don with the rendering process. I'll post pics of the final deisgns once we are done. Thanks again for all your help.
Santeno.
