Well I like your chop dude- I was afraid someone else would be doing a wagon, but it's fun to see the direction you took it. I can't say I am a fan of the blackout headlamps, but that's just personal taste- it's very classy.
Ha good point about the roof line. For some reason I was thinking the perspective would cause the roof line to slope so, and I don't think it really looks unnatural. But on second viewing you are right. You couldn't just leave it unmentioned could you! Ah Well, can't change it now. You may also notice that I didn't put a rear window in- Oops!

Yes, like Theophilus said, FordRules, this one shows some real improvement. I think you have a good concept- now the devil is in the details, as they say. On this chop that means putting a line where the rear of the door is, moving the b-pillar further back to the door line, and moving the door handle back too.
If you had done those minor things, I think you would have gotten some serious voteage- definitely one from me. Not that I am one to talk, since my current chop suffers from some oversights as well, but I generally try to sweat the little things.

I'll probably get flamed for this one, but here is mine. It's sorta a quasi-Malibu Maxx type car. I started off making a coupe, but the last time I did the GS I made a coupe and it bored me. So basically, I transformed it into a coupe/wagon. Sorta like an Alfa 156 meets an RX8. I coupish profile with a hatch, but has seating for 5 and is like a wagon. And then I riced it up some, although I don't like my stripes (but it's too late to change them).
Lots of changes - in the front I revised the headlights, removed the inner lamps, and pushed them closer to the grille which is shorter. I made an air damn down below, and removed the turn signals from the main unit and put them down below.
The hood is the same length, but to give the appearance of a longer front end the front doors were pushed back (they start where the mirrors ended), and the mirrors are door mounted. The front doors are longer, and the back doors shorter with no door handles. The roofline is stretched longer for a more wagon shape. I added a rear wheel arch to make it look less tall (and to match the front air damn - bonus points for the car it came off of). Oh - and stuck a spoiler on back. And put knock-off wheel centres on the stock wheels (mainly because I thought the original wheels looked fantastic).
I added a tone-tone paint job to try and visually lower it, but I think I like it in the original silver better.

Naths gf...I never said it wasn't a good chop, all I meant was it's not very imaginative as it seems to be a trend with most "car designers or moders" these days to turn a nice-ish looking car into a nedded up boyracer piece of what should be junk metal...but again don't get me wrong everyone has made a really good effort and there are some very nice pieces...Rach

ok ... so it was pretty weird to work with a plaster on my hand ... it took twice the time as it used to ... bout the car ... sorry for another estate but i already started the chop when the pic was out ... and yea theres a lotta negative camber there

hm... im definetly least impressed with this contest more than any of the others... every one had basically the same idea... with the exception of a few... this one wont be that hard to judge.

Nath

have to admit, starting to think i took the obvious route... 3 very different estates though

And in any other contest it would have been very surprising for there to be more than one wagon. I originally planned on doing an SUV, and then decided to go for the wagon on a whim. I also finished it as an SUV after I entered my wagon in the contest and I'll post that chop once this contest is closed.
PLUS- There are 20 entries in this contest! That's far more than usual. Quite a few beginners.

Just because there's 3 types of estate and plenty of coupe designs doesn't take away from the design and thought that went into each. I think it's unfair to (by what steve...thing...was saying) discount any designs because they look the same, anyone with an artistic eye and an idea of even basic design would be able to see the differences and merit in all the designs that were entered, open your minds and look at the designs one by one very carefully, it doesn't have to be different to be well designed and thought out. Well done to everyone who did enter, you all did good. I'm voting for what I think deserves to win, not what there is only one of...naths gf

Modified by Nath at 3:13 AM 9/29/2005

Modified by Nath at 3:14 AM 9/29/2005

im not saying that we shouldnt count them out ... just that people had a lot of the same ideas... mainly to make a wagon... which even i wanted to do... but i dont have the skills.

Nath

first thought i had was to do a Volvo XC70/Audi Allroad kinda thing, but after the Estate conversion thought it looked a bit too sleek and might be ruined with plastic cladding etc

gt1750- 3 (really nice chop- rare to see a mid-engine chop here, and it looks good- wheels are a little flat and could use some detailing but I like it)
Theophiluschin- 3 (as usual very nice chop, can't say I'm a fan of the color though!)
Nath- 2 (clean chop, and very nice looking car- let's hope we don't make the same thing next contest too )
Jose- 2 (really like the idea dude, just need to work on the execution- like the far side wheels should be enlarged to match the near ones, otherwise, sweet- proportions looks like a design sketch almost)
