Heres the way I do CF layers. This way is simple and easy. The only thing you need to make the CF pattern, which I downloaded, i'm not sure where so sorry.
-select the area with the polygon lasso tool, of where you want the CF
-desaturate the part you selected, and then darken it a little so it looks more realistic, it should be a dark greay right now
-then go to layer, duplicate
-then go to edit, fill, and you click the CF pattern.
-next, on the layer box, right click the duplicated layer you made and go to, blending options.
-now that a window should pop up, lower the opacity to around like 50%-75%, watever looks best.
-now that you pretty much done, you can go to each layer and darken or lighten it to perfection.
